In September 1958, the company was set up. Staffed with 20 employees, the factory could manufacture farm implements only.

In 1960, we successfully produced the first tug boat of our county, named "Rudong No. 1 Tug Boat".

In 1973, we developed and manufactured tools used at wellhead like tong and slip, as well as instruments and farm implements for export.

In 1979, our company was awarded Enterprise Following the Spirit and Management Mode of Daqing Oilfield, the biggest oilfield in China. It was the first honour we received since the establishment of the company.

In 1983, we raised fund of RMB 1 million to build casting workshop, which covered an area of 3,000 square meters. Additionally, with the introduction of 1.5-ton main frequency furnace, the production capacity was greatly improved. In this year, the production volume of tools for oil drilling and production was 314 tons.

In 1993, the company was restructured. We were the first reformed unit in Rudong County.

On May 18, 2002, our company was restructured to be a private enterprise.

In March 2004, the successful acquisition of the elevator production line from Shanghai No. 3 Petroleum Machinery Plant brought valuable experience in elevator development, production capacity and sales improvement, as well as the development of the product category. In October, actively responding to the call initiated by the county government, we requisitioned the land of 67,000 square meters and started the project of "Running business in the new district rather than in the city".

In 2005, we requisitioned the land of 59,000 square meters.

In 2006, our company became one of the enterprises with the annual sales of more than RMB 100 million, which was a historically breakthrough of our company.

In 2007, the sales volume exceeded RMB 200 million.

In 2008, the first phase of the project named "Running business in the new district rather than in the city" was completed. The new plant covered an area of 69,000 square meters. Successively investing RMB 160 million, we renewed 380 sets of equipment for product process and test. The monthly output value was increased to RMB 25 million, which was 4 times more than that was in the end of 2004. With the record high of annual sales volume of RMB 300 million, we successfully held the celebration for the 50th anniversary.

In February 2010, we set up Graduate Work Station for technology research and development.

In August 2011, the second phase of technology innovation project was put into use. With the total investment of RMB 70 million, the casting capacity was greatly improved.

In November 2012, Rutong Company and Xi’an Shiyou University jointly founded Graduate Work Station for technology research and development. In December, the shareholding system transformation was carried out. The company was renamed to Rutong Petro-machinery Co., Ltd.
